The World Environment Day has been celebrated all over the
world on Jun 5, 2009 with the slogan "Your Planet Need
You! Unite To Combat Climate Change" coined by UNEP.
Every year Youth Awareness Environmental Forum (YAEF/Nepal)
organizes three days (June 4, 5 & 6) programs on the special
occasion of World Environment Day. Similarly, YAEF has celebrated
the world environment day successfully this year. This year
YAEF celebrated the following programs on the occasion of
World Environment Day.
 Youth
Awareness Environmental Forum and Environment Cycle Radio
F.M. 104.2 MHz mutually organized a secondary school level
valley speech competition on June 4, 2009. On the program,
there were 81 participants from 45 schools. The speech competition
having a topic "Climate Change -Our Challenge"
was held on Environment Cycle Radio F.M. 104.2 MHz, Environmental
Library Lalitpur Godawari Area Badegaon. The program had run
during 11:00 to 18:00 hours among teachers, students, guardians,
socialists and other people from different locations. Ms Rosana
Thapa of Saint Blue Bird Secondary Boarding School, Ms Divya
Joshi of Mahendra Adarash Secondary Boarding School, Rupa
Silwal of Ganesh Secondary School, Mr Rastraraj Bhandari of
St. Xavier Secondary Boarding School stood First, Second,
Third and Forth respectively. Winners were awarded with Shield,
Medals and Certificates by the Chairman of YAEF/NEPAL Dr.
Astaman Kisee Maharjan. The Speech Competition was judged
by the judging committee members including Teacher of Buddha
Secondary School. And also the committee members were reminded
by token of Love. The program was hosted by the Bipin Karki.
On the occasion refreshment party was also organized. The
main intensity of the competition was to keep awareness, how
to save the Earth & its environment form student level.

 Youth
Awareness Environmental Forum arranged a Banner show on the
occasion of the World Environment Day on 5th June 2009 at
different venues of Kathmandu valley. Venues were Ratnapark,
Near to Durbar Square (Bhaktpur), Lagankhel, Jawalakhel and
Harihar Bhawan (Infront of UN House) Lalitpur, Kathmandu Nepal.
The program was arranged in order to aware & awake people
to commit to take the slogan into action coined by UNEP. Banners
represent UNEP's and other environment related slogans. On
the occasion, the Chairman Dr. Astaman Kisee Maharjan, YAEF
members: Rajendra Maharjan, Ratna Maya Awal, Nabin Silwal,
Sunil Maharjan, Veshraj, Dil Bhakta, Dipendra Maharjan, Rabi
Maharjan, Rajib Silwal, Deepak Khadaka, Barkat Miya, Bipin
Karki, Rupak Maharjan, Saturaj Maharjan, Sanjay Maharjan,
Bhim Sapkota , Ram Krishna Maharjan, Rajesh Bal Krishna, Nawaraj
Sanjel, Ram Kumar, Pradeep Chaulagain, Gopal B.K., Man Bahadur
B.K., Roshani Maharjan, Sabina Maharjan and many other members
were present. YAEF also published environmental related magazines
which were free distributed among the people in programme
site.
 On
the occasion of the world environment day 2009 Youth Awareness
Environmental Forum had distributed poster and pamphlets among
masses at different places of Kathmandu valley on June
4, 5 & 6th, 2009 with motive to aware people
hand to hand. The main slogan of the world environment day
2009 coined by UNEP was "Your planet Needs You Û
Unite To Combat Climate Change ". And in order to take
this slogan into action the forum is raising voice against
the activities directly affecting the environment. In pamphlets,
the forum has summarized rapidly required issues on slogan
like "REMOVE PLASTICS, SAVE ENVIRONMENT",
"BAND BRICK KLINS, PRESERVE ENVIRONMENT" & "CLOSE
STONE-CONCRETE INDURSTY, PRESERVE NATURE AND HERITAGE".
Environment Cycle Radio F.M.104.2Mhz has been Broadcasted
18 hour daily only Environment related slogans on June 4,
5 and 6, 2009
 Valley
bicycle rally was organized at 8:00am on June 5th 2009 in
order to aware local people of the valley. The main objective
of this function was to remind and utilize people about the
slogan launched by the Your planet Needs You Û Unite
To Combat Climate Change. The program was inaugurated by Mr.
Raj Kagi Maharjan Constitutional Member of Nepal. The rally
started after speeches made by YAEF's Chariman Dr. Astaman
Kisee Maharjan, Coordinator of Environment Cycle Radio Radio
F.M.104.2Mhz Mr. Dipendra Shrestha and Chief Guest Mr Raj
Kagi Maharjan from Lagenkhel and followed Jawalakhel, Pulchowk,
Kupondole, Tripureshwor, Sundhara, Newroad, Bhotahity, Jamal,
Gantaghar, Bagbazar, Putalishadak, Vrikuti Mandap, Bhadrakali,
Sahidgate, Tripureshwor, Kupondol, Patandhoka, Patan Durbar
Square, and lastly reached up to Lagankhel, Lalitpur. About
141 participants had participated the rally covering about
25-kilometer route. T-shirts indicating UNEP's slogan and
certificate were awarded to all the participants. Participants
were refreshed by cold water and refreshment party.
 June
6, 2009 an interaction program was organized on the occasion
of the world environment day June 5, 2009 at Environment Cycle
Radio.F.M. 104.2 MHz, Environmental Library Lalitpur Godawari
Arae Badegaon. The topic of the talk program was "ROLE
OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA IN THE SECTOR OF CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT".
On the program various important persons were present though
the invitations was spreads towards all diplomat Embassy's,
ambassadors, counselor sections, government ministry, teachers,
students, & local people. The program was inaugurated
by Chief Guest Mr. Suman Basnet, Asia Director of The World
Community Radio Broadcaster Association AMARC, YAEF's Chairman
Dr. Astaman Kisee Maharjan, K.P. Pyakurel, Dipendra Shrestha
& so on. Much more various sector's personnel were the
guest and journalist, lawyer, reporters, YAEF members, local
people were also present. Speaking towards the mass, Chairman
of YAEF Dr. Maharjan said about the present situation of the
organization & working schedule of ECR FM 104.2 MHz. He
had also expressed his grief for YAEF members towards AMARC
Asia Director Chief Guest Mr. Suman Basnet, not to getting
opportunity to participate UN monthly meeting in New York.
The main remarkable thing is that YAEF is affiliated member
of ECOSOC since October 17, 2007. He also requested to developed
& under developed countries to alert in environment. The
program was end after tea break wishing all the best &
prosperity.
YAEF established Water Forum Nepal. The forum also published
other environmental related poster and pamphlets among masses
at different places of Lalitpur, Nepal.
