::Climate Change in Nepal::

Climate change is not the problem of only one nation; it is a big trouble of the world which we are facing everyday. Two years ago, only few people knew about the Climate Change but today, each and everybody in this earth should know about it. Most of the nations and their citizens are still unaware about the Climate Change and its consequences.

Since Climate Change has global effect, Nepal is also not far away from its dark sides . Being the underdeveloped country , we have our own different types of  socio-economic problems , however, these problems are being aggravated by the repercussions of climate change in recent years which have been manifested in our Himalayan region by the rapid melting of our glaciers . Even though our contribution in Climate Change is negligible as compared to other developed nations, we have become the sufferer of its effect.  Therefore, we should try to control it before it takes huge disasters. We should begin to think that without combating with climate change, we can’t dream about sustainable development in the world. To raise the awareness as well as gain more knowledge about Climate Change, we should start awareness program in our society .

Nepal lies in the Southern Part of Asia and it occupies just 0.03% of the total area of the earth. Nepal is endowed with rich natural resources and we have very rich biodiversity and ecosystem. Nepal is the second richest nation in the field of water resources in the world. Although Nepal is rich in natural resources, we are not untouched from Climate Change. In recent years, many natural disasters are being appeared in our country as  a consequence of Climate Change . To name few, rapid melting of ice in our himalaya, change in our monsoon cycle, rise in temperature are the example of the effect of Climate Change. These effects do not come alone but they bring series of problems in our society. For instance, monsoon came late this year and hence people could not plant paddy on time causing less production of rice which means that we will have scarcity of food this year. This has socio-economic effect.

Due to increasing temperature and change in monsoon cycle, many arable land are rapidly changing into deserts .Not only this, the water resources are declining day by day. Nepal being an agrarian country, it is sure that our country will be the most adversely affected country in the world. We can not stop Climate Change but we can control it if we want….

Sir, Nepal is suffering  from climate change even though  it is low carbon producing country.(0.025% of total carbon production). The condition of the nation is very worse.  If  we do not control it right now , our country will be devastated completely by disasters like  global warming , green house gases, up-rays , flood, draught etc. We want to save our  county from climate change and its effects . So we want to combine our voice with rest of  the World. We think that UN Climate Change Conference is the best platform for us to raise the voice about climate change.

:: Publication ::

This forum is publishing a monthly environmental magazine "Youth Awareness Environmental forum" since its establishment in 1994 A.D. The magazine deals only on environment. The magazine was the first & only one magazine published to focus environmental issues in Nepal. The language of the publication is Nepali though selected issues as celebration of specials days as World Environment Day, World Wetland Day, World Heritage Day & other specific day's activities are covered in English language also.

The magazine is distributed free of cost to the rural people thought the forum has fixed special price for the organizations & institution to support the publication. With the help of publication, we raise voice against anti-environmental activities as smoke pollution caused by the adulteration of fuel, deforestation, stone mines & so on. We are also raising voice against brick industries to regulate in the valley looking after the pollution of the valley as the shape of the valley is like a tub & the smoke & the dust freeze on the air of the valley. This publication is one of the popular reading materials with environmental issues in the valley

Environmental Library ::

The environmental library, situated at Godawari region of Lalitpur district, is the only information center about environment in Nepal. But, it has not been able to provide necessary facilities to the visitors. The YAEF, therefore, has been planning to establish another facilitated information center at ward No. 2, Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavre.

Its need and importance is growing day by day because of the collection of books on varying subjects. Students' attraction towards the environmental library from different institutes of neighboring districts is increasing dramatically.

The library has been running with difficultly. The importance of the library and information center is felt from every sector. Moreover, it is the only library about environment in the country. The flow of the readers, its importance at present and in the future and opportunity to improve it into one of the most importance libraries in the world has encouraged us to develop it as a well equipped, facilitated and updated environment information center.

We, on behalf of the readers, therefore, would like to request you for your visit to the library. Your presence will inspire us to do more. We would also like to request you for your kind support to the library with the aforesaid equipments. We are hopeful; your kind co-operation and constructive support will definitely help in developing this library into a research centre and environmental information center. For the establishment of this information center, we would kindly request your glorious organization to provide the publication about the environmental activities held under your organization to inform the Nepalese people.
